Welcome Message from IPOS President
Maria Die Trill
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
The 20th IPOS World Congress will take place in Hong Kong October 29-November 2, 2018, in conjunction with the School of Public Health - University of Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong Cancer Fund. This congress will bring psychosocial oncology researchers and clinicians together facilitating collaboration and exchange of ideas this time in a different way! Hong Kong, a modern city built on an ancient civilization, will give us the opportunity to make significant progress in psychooncology as we learn about innovative research in the field, while developing new research and clinical ideas based on existing ones. The exciting partnership with Asian psycho-oncology societies will create a unique psychooncology congress experience where East will meet with West, where we will have an opportunity to cross cultural barriers and take advantage of Hong Kong´s cultural diversity, where we will work together in developing the theme of the congress: Optimizing Psychosocial Support Services in Cancer Care. Sharing our professional experiencies within this scenario will have an enormous scientific and geographical reach and what is most important, the true potential to improve the lives of cancer patients all around the world.
The Hong Kong congress is full of good surprises! It includes innovative educational progams through its Psychosocial Academy, prior to the congress. The Academy provides in-depth learning opportunities and constitutes an ultimate learning experience.
Our Hong Kong congress will be the most influential 2018 scientific meeting in psychooncology for professionals around the globe. It provides a premier scientific platform to present your research. Across disciplines and across cultures, in Hong Kong better than ever, IPOS bridges the gap between researchers, clinicians and patients and unites stakeholders from different parts of the world that are focused on finding the most effective psychosocial cancer care available today.
Do not miss the opportunity to travel to an exciting, vibrant, cosmopolitan city and to personally thank our congress chairs Wendy Lam and Sally Lo for making this dream come true!
See you in Hong Kong!
